Utkal Express derailment LIVE UPDATES: Death toll rises to 23, over 60 injured in Muzaffarnagar train mishap

Utkal Express derailment: UP CM Yogi Adityanath has directed all possible help. PM Narendra Modi expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and said Railway Ministry and state government are providing all assistance in the wake of tragic incident.
At least 23 people were killed and over 60 others injured as 14 coaches of Puri-Haridwar Kalinga Utkal Express derailed in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar area on Saturday evening, ANI reported. The accident occurred at around 5.45 pm in Khatauli, 40 km from Muzaffarnagar. Reflecting on the incident, Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said he was personally monitoring the situation and that he has directed senior officials to take stock of the situation and ensure speedy rescue and relief operations.
The cause of the derailment is yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed all possible help. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and said Railway Ministry and state government are providing all assistance in the wake of tragic incident.

7.24 pm: Union Minister Suresh Prabhu has ordered inquiry into the accident to ascertain the cause and promised that strict action will be taken against any lapse.
